House Update: Paint Colors
I am LONG overdue for a house update on the blog. So in honor of paint happening last week and this week I thought it would be fun to share all of our paint selections and where we used them. I will also preface this post by saying we used mainly grey's and white. And selecting grey's and white's are a bitch! I made more trips to Sherwin Williams during our selection process than I'd care to admit. So much so that the sweet employee just gave me a full paint fan deck, for free to try and reduce my number of visits.
Before I get too far into paint selections it's time for a giant photo dump. Since my last update (here) we've had lots happening! Drywall, wood flooring, cabinets, countertops, trim and stucco. As you can see a lot has changed since...
Now for our paint colors! How did people design houses before Houzz, Fixer Upper, Instagram or the internet in general?! There are so many places we turned to for inspiration especially when it came to our color schemes. We are going for a "Modern-Farmhouse" look and wanted to stay in the white/grey color scheme with pops of color here and there. (All of the paint colors we used were Sherwin Williams).
Body of the house: Cityscape, Trim: Extra White, Shutters: Naval, Corbels: stained a medium brown tone
Trim: Extra White (everywhere except office trim), Walls: Extra White (almost everywhere) Cabinets: Extra White Now do you understand why I had such anxiety about color selections? Painting almost your entire house trim and walls the same color is quite the commitment! Let's just hope we like it!
Other interior colors used:
Master bedroom walls and Mudroom walls: Dorian Grey
Mudroom lockers, built in and chalk board: Gauntlet Grey
Guest room 1 bathroom cabinets: Gauntlet Grey
Office trim and built ins: Peppercorn (with white calls)
Formal Dining walls: Naval (with white wainscoting)
Laundry room cabinets: Naval (with white walls)
Colors from left to right: Peppercorn, Gauntlet Grey, Cityscape, Dorian Gray, Extra White and Naval
All of the fun stuff is finally happening and we are seeing our vision and hard work come to life! In the coming weeks here's what to expect at the house: finish interior and exterior paint, continue stoning exterior and fireplaces/outdoor kitchen, tile, finish hardwood floors, appliance install, carpet and lighting. We are about a month out and we are so excited!!
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions regarding paint selections, or questions regarding our process in general. I can't wait for you to see all of the fun finishing stuff to come. Stay tuned!
